Stimulant Use, Chemsex, & Evidence-Based Treatment: State of the Field and Future Directions

This session is part of NAHEWD's national webinar series Bridging HIV and SUD: Innovations in the Field. The series will highlight various innovative models and approaches to treating substance use disorder (SUD) in people at risk for and living with HIV.

Recent guidelines from the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and treatments studies for stimulant use disorders will be reviewed and applied to patient cases in this workshop. Limitations in available research will be analyzed and future directions and needs assessments will be developed.

Learning Objectives: 

1. Contextualize sexualized drug use and the interplay with sexual health.
2. Understand and apply new guidelines and research on treatments for methamphetamine use disorder.
3. Review major limitations in available substance use disorder treatment studies and potential future directions for research.
