CARE Partners: Patient Violence in Psychological Care Settings: Ethical Considerations

-De-escalation and escalation avoidance techniques for health care staff 
-When and how to engage patients in anger management therapy
-Ethical considerations when patient needs and staff safety conflict

and conduct a facilitated attendee case discussion regarding:


-Potential triggers of anger in patients – e.g. contradiction between toxicology results and patient report of substance use. 
-Outpatient mental health & SUD care management when patients act aggressively. 
-Referral of patients after a no-trespass order: ethical considerations for staff and patients."
