Meeting Clients Where They Are: Using a Neuro-Informed Lens

Clinicians, case managers and other social and human service workers are often familiar with the concepts of trauma-informed care, and while our work has greatly benefitted from the initial shift from approaching our work with the question "what's wrong with you?" to "what happened to you?", the time has arrived to widen our perspective and practices and adopt a "neuro-informed" approach to building effective helping relationships.

This webinar is not about tossing out the wisdom of trauma-informed approaches but rather about expanding the insight into working with the whole person and unique predicting brain.

In this session, participants will be presented with an overview of the predicting brain model based on the work of Lisa Feldman Barrett and have the opportunity to reflect on how to integrate a neuro-informed view into already existing trauma-informed approaches in building working relationships with clients impacted by adversity and substance use disorder.
