Introduction to Prevention Science and Its Application to Practice
This presentation provides an overview of the science that underlies evidence-based prevention interventions and strategies, and the application of these effective approaches in prevention practice. The concepts of prevention science are important for prevention professionals to understand in order to succeed in their efforts to prevent risky health behaviors such as substance use. Prevention science lays the groundwork for the development, testing, and implementation of prevention strategies that have been shown to achieve positive outcomes, i.e., evidence-based programs, practices, and policies.
