Co-Occurring Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment
This event is designed to deepen your understanding of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. We’ll explore how these conditions often show up together, what makes them complex to identify and treat, and why integrated approaches are so important. You’ll learn about different care models, key clinical considerations, and strategies you can apply in your own work, whether you’re in direct care, supervision, or systems coordination. Throughout the training, we’ll share real-world examples, tools, and regional resources to help you feel more confident and informed in supporting individuals with co-occurring needs.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this training, you will be able to:
- Explain what co-occurring disorders are and how common they are.
- Recognize common signs and challenges when someone is experiencing both mental health and substance use concerns.
- Describe different ways services can be provided for people with co-occurring disorders.
- Use basic tools and strategies to support, screen, or refer people with co-occurring needs in your work.
