Advanced Prevention Training: Making the Case for Prevention
Being able to communicate the value of prevention is essential to building support and partnerships for our work. Advanced prevention professionals are well-positioned to leverage their experience and knowledge to make a compelling case for prevention to community partners, leaders, and policymakers.
This 2-hour session will focus on how prevention providers can effectively communicate the value of prevention to a variety of audiences. We will provide tools and strategies to help you plan for and communicate the importance of prevention in environments with competing priorities.
This interactive training will blend training content, practice, and peer sharing. Please come prepare to actively participate.

- Identify unique opportunities and audiences for communicating about prevention.
- Leverage your experience to create succinct and effective messaging.
- Identify the utility and components of a written “open pager” that communicates the value of prevention to leaders and policymakers.
- Prioritize action steps for communicating the value of prevention to various audiences.
