Adolescent Focus: Opioid Overdose, Response, and Naloxone
This training aims to share best practices for using naloxone to prevent opioid overdose among adolescents, including youth-specific guidance, and considerations.
Learning objectives:
- Name at least two (2) types of opioids (including prescription and illicit forms) and describe how they impact adolescent overdose risk.
- Describe at least three (3) effects of opioids on the adolescent brain.
- Explain at least five (5) key steps in the proper administration of naloxone.
- Outline at least three (3) planning steps to connect an adolescent to follow-up treatment and community resources after an overdose.
