My Healthy VT Workshops

Vermont offers FREE workshops to help people prevent and manage diabetes. Participants get support from trained lifestyle coaches to create action plans to make meaningful changes to meet their health-related goals.  These workshops are held primarily online, which connects people from across the state.  People who complete the program share that they appreciate the support of the group and are better able to create new habits with food, physical activity, sleep, and stress management.

Help to Pay for Insulin and Medicines

Be sure to let your medical provider know if cost is a problem for you. Your provider may be able to prescribe less expensive medication, or you may be eligible for assistance. The following resources may also help. This information is also included in the Learning to Live Well with Diabetes booklet.

Healthy Vermonters Prescription Drug Program

  • This program is for those who have no insurance for prescription medicines. It is also for those who do not have enough income to pay for medicines. Call (800) 250-8427.

Medicare Part D

  • Medicare provides a prescription drug plan regardless of income, health status or prescription drug usage. Visit www.medicare.gov or call (800) 633-4227.
  • Contact Vermont's State Health Insurance and Assistance Program to guide you through the plan selection process. Visit asd.vermont.gov/services/ship or call (800) 642-5119.

Veterans Administration

  • Contact the VA by calling (866) 687-8387.
