Cultural Considerations for Indigenous People with Substance Use Disorders

Boston Medical Center's (BMC) 12-part Massachusetts Office Based Addiction Treatment ECHO® (MA OBAT ECHO®) offers training and support in addiction treatment, with a focus on comprehensive care for patients with substance use disorders (SUDs). The free, case-based tele-mentoring program is designed to increase the capacity of primary care teams to integrate addiction treatment using a multidisciplinary care model.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will have the knowledge to:
Discuss the prevalence of substance use disorders (SUD) among Indigenous populations.
Consider culturally specific SUD treatment considerations for Indigenous people.
For trainings that indicate Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available, contact the organizer and/or the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation to verify that the credits will count toward the continuing education requirements of your licensure or certification.
