The Role of Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine in Substance Use Disorder Care

Vinny Minichiello, MD, Michael Waupoose, LICSW, and Michael Williams, MD from the Osher Center for Integrative Health at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health will:

-Define traditional, complementary and integrative medicine and describe frameworks for application in clinical care

-Offer experience in how mindfulness meditation practice may support people living with substance use disorder including those who have also experienced racial minoritization.

-Review the recent literature and how to talk with people about the use of acupuncture in treating substance use disorder.

This webinar will serve as an introduction to the application of traditional, complementary and integrative medicine in clinical care for people experiencing substance use disorders. Specifically, we will highlight the role of mindfulness and acupuncture in treatment approaches.
