Treatments for Pain in the Context of Substance Use Disorders
Description
Boston Medical Center's (BMC) 12-part Massachusetts Office Based Addiction Treatment ECHO® (MA OBAT ECHO®) offers training and support in addiction treatment, with a focus on comprehensive care for patients with substance use disorders (SUDs). The free, case-based tele-mentoring program is designed to increase the capacity of primary care teams to integrate addiction treatment using a multidisciplinary care model.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will have the knowledge to:
- Describe the prevalence and types of pain syndromes among patients with opioid use disorder.
- Understand how living with chronic pain impacts recovery outcomes including risk for relapse and overdose.
- Explore options for integrated treatment of pain in substance use disorder treatment settings.
For trainings that indicate Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available, contact the organizer and/or the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation to verify that the credits will count toward the continuing education requirements of your licensure or certification.
