Hepatitis A and B

Vermont is experiencing a statewide increase of hepatitis A, and Health Commissioner Mark Levine, MD declared an outbreak in mid-January 2020. There are outbreaks in many other states, including New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The Health Department has been offering free hepatitis A vaccine clinics in places that serve high-risk individuals, such as shelters, syringe services programs, and meal sites. Clinics have also been held in all Vermont correctional facilities.

Case numbers are also up for hepatitis B. Many of the same groups at risk for hepatitis A are at risk for hepatitis B.
