Advanced Prevention Training: Integrating Youth Cannabis Use Prevention into Existing Prevention Efforts

Whether a state has medicinal cannabis, adult-use recreational cannabis, or no additional cannabis laws, prevention practitioners have a role to play in preventing youth cannabis use. In this session, we will blend training content with peer-sharing to provide prevention practitioners with actionable information that they can use in their communities. Discussion topics will include how prevention efforts are different in states with differing cannabis laws, and key considerations for addressing risk factors with community partners. Participants will work in breakout rooms to gain ideas and share perspectives on this topic.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Identify associated prevention strategies for preventing youth cannabis use, including policy, communication, and education
  • Describe opportunities to align youth cannabis use prevention and underage drinking prevention
  • Identify how other prevention efforts can help prepare the prevention field to prevent youth cannabis use
