Prevention work is powerful, but it is not always easy to explain. Unlike services that respond to immediate needs, prevention often works upstream by strengthening protective factors, reducing risk, shifting norms, improving environments, and creating the conditions where people and communities have a greater opportunity to flourish.

This interactive 90-minute webinar will help participants strengthen how they communicate the value of prevention across audiences. Participants will explore why prevention can be difficult to explain, consider how to frame prevention as an investment in healthier futures, and practice developing a brief prevention value message that can be used with partners, decision-makers, community members, and other key audiences.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe why prevention can be challenging to communicate using traditional service-based language and metrics.
  • Explain prevention as upstream, condition-setting work that strengthens protective factors and supports healthier futures.
  • Draft a brief prevention value message that communicates the purpose and importance of prevention to a specific audience.
