Immunizations are the single most effective way to protect your family against serious and sometimes deadly diseases. Our Immunization Public Health Nurse works closely with families and medical practices to increase immunization rates in Southern Windsor and Northern Windham Counties for infants, children, adolescents and adults.
The Springfield Local Health Office holds a monthly vaccination clinic on the last Wednesday of each month from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. by appointment, for those under age 65 without insurance or access to a health care provider. Call 802-289-0600 to make an appointment.

Working with Health Care Providers
We assist local medical practices in increasing immunization rates by using the Vermont Immunization Program’s quality improvement model, known as AFIX. A public health nurse reviews practices’ rates, using data from Vermont’s Immunization Registry, and assesses current immunization services and processes. The model encourages practices to implement evidence-based strategies to improve services, decrease missed opportunities, and improve data quality.
