Tobacco Prevention in Addison County

We connect tobacco prevention and quit partners with schools and community organizations throughout the county. We are your local connection to the statewide 802Quits program and resources. We also address the impact of in-store tobacco advertising in our communities.

While statewide smoking rates are declining, they are higher in some groups, and the Health Department is committed to addressing those disparities.

The Vergennes Boys and Girls Club, the tobacco grantee in Addison County, strives to educate and engage youth and other community members to address tobacco outlet density and decrease exposure to second hand smoke. For example, in collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club, we are providing smoke-free zone signage, resources and educational programming about secondhand smoke to Champlain Orchards and Addison County Building Bright Futures.
