BURLINGTON – The Vermont Department of Health is expanding its outreach through the social media channels Twitter, YouTube, and now Facebook.
The Health Department is launching its Facebook page during National Influenza Vaccination Week, Dec. 5-11, with real Vermont flu stories, videos, posters, photos and other resources.
See Health Commissioner Wendy Davis, MD get her flu shot, or Vermont kids explaining the art and science of keeping germs from spreading. Find out why one H1N1 flu survivor is telling everyone he knows to get vaccinated. Share your own stories, or join a discussion about what motivates you to get vaccinated.
Speak Swahili or some other language? Watch Vermont families tell how to prevent the flu in nine different languages (plus English): Somali, Swahili, Kirundi, Bosnian, Russian, Vietnamese, Mandarin Chinese, Burmese and Nepali – and share the links from our YouTube channel.
The Health Department will also use social media as one more way to reach Vermonters directly during public health events or emergencies such as disease outbreaks, food recalls, or seasonal health alerts.
