Our Work with Health Care Providers

The St. Johnsbury Local health Office works directly with local health care providers to ensure people across the age spectrum receive necessary and appropriate immunizations. We achieve this by providing support and education to local medical offices to ensure vaccination data is accurately put into Vermont’s Immunization Registry. The Immunization Registry provides a central location for immunizations to be monitored by the health care community. We also help medical providers and practices increase their immunization rates by using the Vermont Immunization Program’s quality improvement model, known as AFIX.

Our staff works closely with area schools to ensure all children are appropriately vaccinated prior to entry into the school system.  Home-schooled families are included in education and information sharing. Our office has successfully worked to increase immunization compliance to ensure families are aware of new state statutes affecting children entering school in the fall.
