EMS for Children

Vermont Emergency Medical Services for Children’s mission is to ensure that all children and adolescents receive the right emergency care, at the right time, in the right place, no matter where they live, attend school, or travel.

Because children are not little adults, EMS for Children works on a variety of initiatives to improve pediatric emergency care in Vermont, and to ensure that the providers who care for your children are prepared with a family-centered treatment approach suited to the needs of children. EMS for Children works to see that:

  • EMS providers have the proper training, equipment, policies, and procedures to treat and manage ill and injured children, and transport them to an appropriate emergency department.
  • The Emergency Department has adequately trained staff, equipped with the right equipment, policies and procedures so they are pediatric-ready in emergencies and disasters.
