Below are reading suggestions for quiet times. These children's books are about food and cooking, or tell a story that involves physical activity. Click on the subject for specific titles and authors. Many of them can be checked out at your local library.

Playgroups are a wonderful place for parents to meet other parechild image playing with beach ballsnts, and for kids to make friends. They are usually held for an hour or two once a week, and are free. Call your local Parent Child Center or Success By Six program for up-to-date information on times and places. You could even start your own playgroup by inviting friends to play at your house, or arrange for everyone to meet at a nearby park, playgound or recreation path.
