Food Safety Testing

The Vermont Department of Health Laboratory performs testing on food and environmental samples to look for harmful bacteria, particularly those known to cause foodborne illness (E. coli 0157, Salmonella, Listeria, Campylobacter)

Working together with other state agencies and programs, food and environmental samples are collected, submitted and tested during foodborne outbreaks and for monitoring purposes. 

The food testing laboratory is currently seeking ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation in order to offer more testing options for our customers.
