Human Monkeypox Virus (hMPXV) Response

Human Monkeypox Virus (hMPXV) Response

Scientists at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are tracking multiple cases of the human version of the monkeypox virus (hMPXV). The virus has been reported in many countries that don’t normally report the virus, including the United States and Canada. The Vermont Department of Health opened its Health Operations Center in August 2022 to monitor and address this.

Experts across the department are working to keep Vermonters safe. This includes epidemiologists, health care partners, emergency response coordinators, logistics managers, communication professionals and many others.
