Ladies First Relaunched as You First
Screening and support program refreshed for all eligible Vermonters

BURLINGTON – Ladies First, which has provided eligible Vermonters with free mammograms, pap tests and heart health checkups for nearly 30 years, is being refreshed and relaunched as You First.

“You First continues our mission to ensure all Vermonters have access to screening and support for heart disease, breast and cervical cancer,” said Health Commissioner Mark Levine, MD. “Screening saves lives, and our aim is to make sure that everyone who is eligible knows there is a program here for them that is gender-inclusive, non-binary, and welcoming.”

You First is an income-based program that offers personalized support to pay for and connect eligible Vermonters to screenings, diagnostic tests and heart healthy lifestyle programs. In addition to clinical services, members can get free memberships for local gyms and weight loss programs like WW® (Weight Watchers), receive farmers’ market coupons, CSA shares and state park passes. You First can also pay for transportation and interpretation services for You First appointments.

In its first 30 years, more than 15,000 Vermonters have enrolled in the program, which is based in the Vermont Department of Health. In that time, the program has provided over 21,000 mammograms and more than 20,000 pap tests.
