BURLINGTON – Burlington colleges, the Y, and local coffee shops are joining together this week to prevent the H1N1 flu – one cup at a time.
The “A Shot for a Shot” promotion offers anyone age 18 to 24 who gets vaccinated at one of three clinics this week a coupon for a “shot” or cup of coffee at 12 participating locations – plus a great chance to win four tickets to an upcoming concert at Higher Ground.
Public clinics especially set up for young adults will be held at three locations:
WEDNESDAY, Feb. 17 at the Champlain College Student Center (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) conducted by the VNA of Chittenden/Grand Isle Counties.
THURSDAY, Feb. 18 at the University of Vermont Davis Center (12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.) conducted by the UVM Center for Health & Wellbeing Medical Clinic.
FRIDAY, Feb. 19 at the Burlington YMCA (4 p.m. to 7 p.m.) conducted by the VNA of Chittenden/Grand Isle Counties.
Coffee shops participating in A Shot for a Shot promotion are: Jazzman’s (at the Champlain College Student Center), UVM Davis Center, Market Place, Muddy Waters, Uncommon Grounds, Mirabelles, Dunkin Donuts (at five area locations) and Starbucks (Burlington Town Centre location only).
A Shot for a Shot is part of Burlington's Take the Lead campaign. Take the Lead is a national effort to encourage everyone to know what to do about the flu: get vaccinated, take everyday actions to keep germs from spreading, stay informed, and make a personal or family flu plan.
