BURLINGTON - The Vermont Department of Health today announced the publication of the Vermont Health Practitioner Profiles website, at .

The website contains the name of each medical doctor licensed in Vermont and a professional profile listing the physician’s academic credentials, clinical specialty, board certification, hospital privileges, academic appointments and similar information. It also lists criminal convictions, malpractice settlements and professional disciplinary matters. The information is updated approximately once a week.

A 2002 Vermont law, 26 V.S.A. §1368 , required the Department of Health to create a data repository and to publish web profiles of all health care professionals licensed, certified, or registered by the department. With information gathered through the 2002 physicians’ license renewal cycle, the department’s Medical Practice Board staff prepared and posted profiles of all medical doctors (MDs) licensed to practice in Vermont.

Information about podiatrists (DPMs), physician assistants (PAs) and anesthesiologist assistants (AAs) will be added during the coming year. (Osteopaths, nurses and other health professionals are licensed by the Office of Professional Regulation , a division of the Vermont Secretary of State’s Office and are not included in this website.)

Vermont currently licenses 2,921 medical doctors, 1,807 of whom are residents.
