Legionnaires’ Disease Update: One New Case Confirmed

BURLINGTON—Vermont health officials investigating an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in Washington County today report one additional confirmed case of Legionnaires’ disease, making a total of 15 reported cases.
In addition, seven people are reported to have developed a milder form of infection from the bacterium, Legionella pneumophila, that causes Legionnaires’ disease.
To date, at least 50 people who exhibited symptoms consistent with the illness have been tested and found to be negative.

Details of the confirmed cases:
- 15 Legionnaire’s disease cases
- 1 hospitalized
- 10 discharged from the hospital
- 4 never hospitalized
- all adults
- no deaths
