BURLINGTON—Over the weekend, the Vermont Department of Health began testing a suspicious powder substance collected from a roll of pennies that was opened at the Rent-a-Center in the Highgate Commons Shopping Center in St. Albans on Saturday. The sample was delivered by State Police to the Health Department’s Burlington laboratory on Sunday, April 21.
As of 4 p.m. Monday, early testing had shown no growth suggestive of B. anthracis (anthrax).
Final test results will be available by mid-week.
