Mental Health Services
Emergency Services
Emergency services are available to anyone in a mental health crisis, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, statewide from Designated Agencies (DA). If you need help right now, go to the Crisis Numbers page. 6000 people are served each year by DA Emergency Services.
The purpose of Emergency Services is a rapid response to evaluate a situation and to provide or arrange whatever treatment and support is needed to help people and communities cope with the crisis. Services may be provided over the phone, in a person's home, or in a hospital emergency room, but the ability of programs to do outreach varies across the state.
Communities and organizations coping with an unusual event such as a natural disaster, community crisis (an automobile accident or a suicide, for instance) can call on DA Emergency Services for assistance and support to individuals or staff of local organizations.
Emergency Services staff are trained and experienced in mental health crisis work, and Emergency Service Programs have back-up from a psychiatrist.
