On July 21, 2003, the Vermont Board of Medical Practice
(Board), constituted under 26 V.S.A. § 1360(a), held a special hearing to
consider the Attorney General’s motion for summary suspension of the license to
practice medicine of David S. Chase, M.D. (Respondent). Board members Judge Hilton H. Dier Jr.
(public member), Katherine M. Ready (public member), and John B. Webber, Esq.
(public member) were present at the hearing.
Board members James D. Cahill, M.D. (physician member), Sharon L. Nicol
(public member), and Katherine A. Silta, P.A.-C (physician assistant member)
participated via telephone conferencing.
Phillip J. Cykon, Esq., served as presiding officer. Assistant Attorney General Joseph L. Winn
appeared on behalf of the State of
Based upon the State’s motion and attachments thereto, concerning Respondent’s alleged unprofessional conduct, the Board finds that public health, safety, and welfare imperatively require emergency action. SUCH FINDING IS HEREIN INCORPORATED, and IT IS ORDERED by the Board that:
1. The State’s Motion for Summary Suspension is GRANTED;

Respondent Chase’s license to practice medicine in the

3. The hearing on the Specification of Charges, when filed by the State, will be scheduled as soon as practical;
4. This Order is effective immediately.
