An Oral Health Message to Encourage Summer Dental Checkups for Children
Summer time is a perfect time – not only for health checkups, but to schedule dental checkups, too!
Our children can be cavity free. Regular dental checkups can catch cavities early and help to prevent new ones.
The Vermont Department of Health, the Department of Education, and the Office of Vermont Health Access are partnering to encourage parents/guardians to include a dental checkup each year in addition to their child’s regular health checkup.
Most private dental insurances, as well as Green Mountain Care assistance (Dr. Dynasaur and Medicaid), cover dental checkups, fluoride treatments and sealants. Sealants are a thin, plastic coating easily painted on the chewing surfaces of molar (back) teeth – a painless and effective way to block out cavities.
Stay tuned for even more to smile about! An educational campaign will start in the fall.
