Twelve district offices around the state provide the essential health promotion and disease prevention services necessary for an effective public health system. Our offices work in partnership with local health care providers, voluntary agencies, schools, businesses and community organizations.
Most Health Department programs reach the people of Vermont through the district offices. These community-based programs, outlined below, are carried out by public health nurses, nutritionists and outreach workers at the local level. Town and city health officers receive backup and support from district office staff as well.
