Child/Adolescent Inpatient Services: The Brattleboro Retreat offers specialized inpatient programs for children and adolescents. Although each program is distinct and offers age specific treatment, both programs are designed to provide short-term, inpatient hospital care for children or adolescents who have serious mental illness or addictive disorders that have led to disruptive, maladaptive behaviors and relationships. Both programs have a multi-disciplinary team approach and utilize a trauma informed model of care which is short term, strength based, and skills oriented. We recognize that successful treatment and reintegration back to the community depends on effective collaboration with families and community providers. Therefore, both our inpatient programs engage in ongoing communication with families and coordination of services with community providers.
Substance Abuse Treatment Options: We offer a variety of treatment options for adults with chemical dependencies or with dual diagnosis of chemical dependency and psychiatric illness. Options range from inpatient detoxification and short-term stabilization to intensive outpatient and general outpatient programs (through our Starting Now Program). Our assessment team helps individuals and families create comprehensive, individualized treatment plans that incorporate discharge planning/follow up.
